MUNDUBBERA HERITAGE TRAIL
A small committee of dedicated volunteers drives this project, which aims to preserve and highlight the history of Mundubbera township.
In 2015, Phase 1 of the MUNDUBBERA HERITAGE PLAQUE project and trail was implemented. My role has been to research and collate factual information on behalf of the committee.
I then liased closely with the committee to develop the plaque inscriptions, which have been placed on the concrete footpaths in front of stores in the Lyons Street CBD. Many of the buildings are the original structures erected at the start of the town's settlement and refurbished over time. Others have been demolished or destroyed by fire, but their existence has now been preserved on the plaques.
My next task was to design and create the A3 flyer which is intended to guide visitors and locals on a planned tour of the CBD. Graphic design was a new challenge for me, and the flyer took many months to complete. Great care has been taken to maintain historical accuracy both on the plaques and the leaflet. It is now available from a number of public locations in the town, free of charge for anyone who wishes to take the tour or have their own copy.
The completed flyer can be viewed as a PDF file by clicking on the icon at right.
Eventually similar walks will be set up around the town area. Phase 2 of the project is also well under way and will be accessible in the near future. The final phase willl be a book which will contain and preserve all the information from the Mundubbera Heritage Trail Project, along with greater detail and more photographs.
